When Everything Everywhere Gets Worse All the Time

Welcome to the world of war, pestilence, red and white fascism, religious nationalism, eliminatory heteronormativity, and the subjugation of women; a world where education is underfunded and terrible, knowledge and understanding increasingly worthless, science held hostage by crooks and charlatans, and information simultaneously controlled by billionaires and not trusted; all set against the backdrop of the climate catastrophe’s accelerating global destabilization and disruption. Come to think of it—while my Voidpunk Universe is an alternative far future “where diverse human species live in the shadows of vast and powerful entrarchies, remnants of mythical artifact civilizations, and terrible signs that herald the cosmic gods’ cataclysmic return,” this future now looks a lot less depressing than humanity’s actual present. I have no words for all this.

Last week, I was at the Indie Game Fest in Cologne, where I met a lot of interesting people and many old friends including alumni, and that was pretty cool. Thus, I published a little less than usual. There’s one post at my Voidpunk blog on Etherpoint Ellipsoids; a new album on Flickr with 12 images from Mapo-daegyo in Seoul, South Korea; a re-edit on Glass of Miyazaki Hayao’s Ghibli Clock in Minato, Tōkyō, and one entry each at my Instagram accounts betweendrafts and voidpunkverse.

Several games in development I played at the Indie Game Fest I’d love to recommend—but, sadly, there’s no public beta, alpha, or demo available for any of them (I checked). I’ll keep an eye on them.

For the Sunday funnies, here are some happy dogs, adorable bunnehs, and a house that’s just getting suspicious, all of whom deserve better humans.
