I spent the first three days of the week with my coffee company, Eripio, serving coffee to the awesome people in attendance at CarePortal Conference 26. Over the event, I had over 500 separate conversations as we took orders and made drinks. It was awesome.
A line would build up after a session would release, but everybody was so patient and cheerful. Our one-shot-at-a-time espresso machine pushed through. By the third day, I started to remember some of the attendee's names. Each day was pretty full. Everyone was certainly tired, but it was so worth it. To see all those people and to have a few seconds to care for them is a gift that I don't take for granted.
The theme of this year's conference was "Uncommon Care" and that was exemplified through each volunteer, organizer, attendee, and speaker. CarePortal is a gem in the world of non-profits, in my eyes. While I never joined one of the conference sessions, I was still touched by the contagious motivation to serve people, for the love of people.
