Usually when you hear someone in management say "we're all a family", they don't really mean it. Not in the way you'd expect at least.
When they say that, the relationship they have in mind is often one-sided. You should be willing to sacrifice for them. You should stay up all night for them. You might want to feel some love in return, but why should you expect that? Your work is not your family.
This isn't to say you shouldn't be nice to your peers, or that you shouldn't help them out when they need. But there's nothing wrong with logging off at 5pm and forgetting about the people who sit next to you. You'll be better off for it.
You spend 8 hours a day with your peers. That's probably more time then you spend with most friends. You should try and develop some camaraderie, but don't end up sacrificing your own happiness for the happiness of some corporation.
At the end of the day, your family is your family. Do them the service of being fully engaged with them when the workday is over. After all, they're the ones you're doing this for, right?
