New UK EHS Laws in September 2024
New Laws
Fourteen (14) new EHS laws came into force in the UK during September 2024.
Looking forward there are currently 20 new EHS related laws coming into force in October, 9 in November and 7 in December. Three are scheduled for 2025.
One new Act of interest to those working in environment, safety or health came into force during September.
The Defective Premises Act (Northern Ireland) 2024 3 is an amending Act and makes changes to the Defective Premises (Northern Ireland) Order 1975.
In the month that Cottam Power Station ceased generation as the last coal powered plant in the UK https://www.edfenergy.com/energy/power-stations/cottam development consent was given to Cottam Solar Project https://www.cottamsolar.co.uk/ Cottam Solar Project Order 2024 943 https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2024/943/contents.
Updated Laws
The 16 new laws resulted in amendment to 4 existing laws.
Repealed / Revoked Laws
There were no repeals or revocations arising from the EHS laws coming into force in September.
