Error Prevention with WalkMe on Oracle HCM

Here's a quick WalkMe build which helped a client prevent 77 errors in 3 weeks on Oracle HCM:

(NOTE - This can work on any web-based app)

One of the areas where WalkMe really shines is on form data validation.  Specifically, interaction between fields on forms.

A lot of systems are setup to validate a specific field:
-- Yep, user entered a valid email address.
-- Yep, user picked something from the drop-down.

But less often do I see validation of the "INTERACTIONS" between choice combinations of drop-down fields.

Example when opening an account:
  • Because you picked US Citizen, "Passport" doesn't make sense as their identification method.
  • Because you picked "Passport", don't pick "United States" as the country.
  • Etc.

Normally, user clicks Save and the system just goes "Yep, they have something in every field!"

Now, most systems have a way of handling this. You get a developer, pay the rates, hardcode it (somehow) on the back-end, etc.

But this stuff often goes overlooked:
  • Maybe we ran out of time or budget in the initial implementation
  • Maybe the DEV team is backlogged with higher priorities
  • Maybe no one has touched the system in years.
  • Etc.

GOOD NEWS -- You can have your internal subject matter experts learn WalkMe and no-code their own data validation in the browser.

And that's exactly what we did on a recent client project:
Oracle HCM, HR Admins were always cleaning up messes on the back-end.

Client:  "I hate it when users pick Option A then forget to pick Option B in the other drop-down".
Jeff:  "How do you handle that today?"
Client:  "We have to monitor the activity then manually make corrections".

UGH.  WalkMe to the rescue!

All we had to do was cover the "Next" button with an invisible launcher then link to an automated Walk-Thru with the logic the SME said needed to be in place.

We used "Error Handling Groups" with Automated clicks to fix problems automatically.

From initial discussion to production launch, this was less than two weeks, being a side project for my SME.

WalkMe Analytics showed we avoided 77 Errors after it had been live for 3 weeks.

Some quick math, we might avoid over 1000 errors in this process in the next year. YES SIR!

Can you think of any systems you use where this could help?

Give me a call.
