Invest in WalkMe Before GenAI

The horse is probably out of the barn on this one. But if I were a CIO, I'd invest in a Digital Adoption Platform like WalkMe before I fund any AI. Here’s why:

Gartner reports that 50% of GenAI projects fail due to poor data quality, inadequate controls, escalating costs, unclear value.  Check here -- https://www.gartner.com/en/articles/genai-project-failure

You ready to flip that coin?

Heads, the project is successful.

Tails, you lose tons of money and credibility.

But let’s suppose you’ve got those under control.

The key failure point to me is this: “Poor Change Management”.

Think about it. If your AI initiative is successful, what are we accomplishing?
-- Introducing process changes
-- Introducing new applications
-- Introducing new features / ways of working
-- Automating certain processes that we expect employees to use

Where your employees sit down at their keyboards is where the rubber meets the road.

And if you’re not measuring the change, communicating in-app, making it easy, linking it into existing workflows, etc -- it’s not going to work.

Totally agree with Gartner here: “When possible make GenAI native to existing workflows rather than requiring new tools and processes”.

And funny they should mention that... Because WalkMe is in browser and can run ACROSS any web application, we can bring your new AI solution to point of use. We can link it into existing flows thus far increasing the likelihood it’s used.

But this happens ONLY if your organization has already invested in WalkMe and gotten your folks up to speed.

That’s why you need to invest in a 21st century change management platform BEFORE you go funding a bunch of AI projects.
