Scale

Too many consulting firms are trying to get acquired. Not me.

"Scale". Gotta "scale", Jeff, it's all about scale and growth.

Growth, growth. Why don't you have a dozen people working for you?

Isn't that what you're supposed to do?

No, that's never been my path.

Yeah, I could just go crazy and take on more work than I can deliver, then outsource to subcontractors.

Consulting arbitrage! Take in at one rate and pay out at another, genius!

Nah, not for me.

I really enjoy building WalkMe. I enjoy learning the whole product backwards and forwards and focusing on my craft.

I'm not trying to get so big I can't know what trade-offs are being made.

I don't want to help 30 clients a year have so-so WalkMe implementations.

I want to work directly with just a few clients a year and get them awesome results.

I don't want to scale crappy work.

But it's kind of odd, I've noticed this when talking with other professional service firms.

Similar to some SaaS firms, the idea is growth at all costs.

They just start the business and then say "We're looking to get acquired".

Really? You're trying to start a business so you can get out of it?

I don't get it.

How can you do a great job at something you ultimately want to sell???

Plus, I've managed people in the past, been there and done that.

I'm starting small and staying small ON PURPOSE.

And I think my clients are happy about that...
