If you like grapefruit (or really any citrus), I’ve got a great way to immediately make it unhealthy and delicious. This Vegan Grapefruit Olive Oil Cake from ShortGirlTallOrder will do the trick. It’s a fairly simple recipe; I only had to purchase cake flour but had all the other ingredients.
Looking for a fascinating watch (but also - warning - highly anxiety producing)? Check out Five Days at Memorial on Apple+. It tells the true story of Memorial Hospital in New Orleans in the five days surrounding Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath. The first episodes show, day by day, how conditions deteriorated and unimaginable decisions had to be made. The later episodes cover the ensuing investigation and legal proceedings. It manages to show the best in people and break your heart all at the same time.
Need a fun game to distract you? When I’m trying to unload my brain from the day that just ended and the day that will soon enough begin, one my favorite phone games to play is Ball Sort Puzzle. The objective is simple enough; move colored marbles from one test tube to another and eventually have a single color fill each tube. Every time I think I’ve mastered it, I manage to find myself in a tricky round! (Don’t ask what round I am up to.)
I am the least organized human who also owns the most organization books. This one - “How to Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organizing” is better than all the rest. It’s the first book I’ve read on this topic that leaves you not feeling ashamed or embarrassed, but rather refocuses you to understand the “why” and provides bite-sized strategies to get your home clean and keep it that way.
Here are some of the key parts: -How to see chores as kindnesses to your future self, not as a reflection of your worth -How to start by setting priorities -How to stagger tasks so you won’t procrastinate -How to clean in quick bursts within your existing daily routine -How to use creative shortcuts to transform a room from messy to functional
Last but not least, if you cook soups, stews or sauces, you need Souper Cubes. These handy silicone food keepers are freezer, oven and dishwasher-safe. They allow you to keep perfectly portioned amounts ready to go. (Otherwise in my world, one container has like 5 servings of leftover soup and another has like a half-serving.)
That is everything I have for you today. I hope you have a great week ahead. If you enjoy my recommendations, please sign up to receive them by email or share online with a friend.
