Looking for a winter meal to keep you warm? Try Nom Nom Paleo's Instant Pot Ground Beef Chili. A few notes - this is a no-bean chili. I know that's a non-starter for some people. Also, if you're not eating strictly paleo, feel free to substitute sour cream, cheese and dairy toppings. Either way, it's not a difficult or time-consuming recipe and we really enjoyed it.
For fans of crazy but true crime stories, Dr. Death on Peacock is a must watch. (Note: this came out in 2021 and there is a second season about a different story but I haven't watched that yet.) Also, there was a podcast first with the same name, for those who prefer to listen to their entertainment. Starring Joshua Jackson (who will always be Pacey, IMHO), Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater, it tells the story of an up-and-coming neurosurgeon who has botched a whopping 33 out of 38 surgeries. He manages to keep getting operating privileges throughout Texas until two other doctors relentlessly pursue the end of his career.
If you love music (namely '90s music) and anecdotal storytelling, you will thoroughly enjoy 60 Songs that Explain the '90s. Additionally, in an unplanned theme tonight, this is also a podcast. From Celine Dion to Chumbawumba to Oasis and Hole, the author shares stories and commentary on songs that shaped the decade. It's 100% the type of book I wish I had written; I've laughed so many times reading it. It's also reminded me of a number of songs I haven't played in quite some time.
Looking for a fun game to play with your family or friends?Ultimate Pub Trivia was a hit over the holidays for us. It follows the same format as bar trivia, except you can play at home. The game includes the answer/scoresheets and allows for flexible scoring (for example, if the team provides half of the name in an answer). We had kids as young as 12 playing (granted, they were paired with adults who knew topics they didn't) and everyone had a great time. The topics are diverse - we covered everything from American history to the names of Kim K.'s kids. And, at this moment, it's 46% off on Amazon.
