I like Om Malik's take on HEY World:

The essence being self expression as a tool to help build an audience, because this is exactly the way I see it. I'm currently at seven subscribers. Yep, only 7. It doesn't matter. The way I see it, it's like having a room with seven people in it. You came in, you put a few minutes aside just to read my writings. Isn't it cool? It is cool. You're all welcomed here, in this room called HEY World. The door is still open. Make yourself comfortable. 🙂
