Why put AI usage on the PR at all?

Because once AI becomes part of delivery, the business question quickly becomes:

what did this take, and what did it cost?

That is why I think it belongs on the PR.

Not because the PR is necessarily the perfect long-term home for it.
But because it gives both the reviewer and the wider business a useful signal tied to the actual delivered change.

It is not perfect accounting.
It is not the whole story.
But it is enough to start creating a feedback loop.

For example, if a very small change comes with surprisingly high usage or cost, that can be a sign the prompt, context, or scope control was not tight enough.

On larger slices, that only matters more.

So the value is not just reporting.
It is helping teams improve model choice, reasoning level, prompt efficiency, and context quality over time.

That is the real reason it is on the PR.
