Appreciating trees just the way they are 🌳

"When you go out into the woods and you look at trees, you see all these different trees. And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever.

And you look at the tree and you allow it.

You see why it is the way it is.

You sort of understand that it didn’t get enough light, and so it turned that way. And you don’t get all emotional about it. You just allow it. You appreciate the tree.

The minute you get near humans, you lose all that. And you are constantly saying, 'You’re too this, or I’m too this.' That judging mind comes in.

And so I practice turning people into trees. Which means appreciating them just the way they are."

- Ram Dass

We keep hearing this lesson over and over and over and over...and over and over and over. Until we finally hear it.

It's really that simple. It's the truth.

And the truth is patient. It doesn't need us to believe it.

It's the truth. It can wait.

Because it's true.

Fred Rogers wrote a whole song about it.

It's you I like,
It's not the things you wear,
It's not the way you do your hair
But it's you I like
The way you are right now,
The way down deep inside you
Not the things that hide you,
Not your toys
They're just beside you.

But it's you I like
Every part of you.
Your skin, your eyes, your feelings
Whether old or new.
I hope that you'll remember
Even when you're feeling blue
That it's you I like,
It's you yourself
It's you.

It's you I like.
