Can you communicate? What does it mean in 2022? We have so many tools that help us connect and yet - we often struggle. The thing is - it matters where, but also HOW we talk to each other.
I often see that picture, where people talk to each other in the office. They form full and grammaticly correct sentences, yet it is somehow hard to understand what he or she had in mind. The funny thing is that a listening person often nods in approval, but later when it happens that it wasn't so clear after all. This picture is not limited to the workspace - it happens all the time, everywhere.
This isn't one example, when people talk and in the end - they couldn't really express themselves. And we would like to think that talking in person is the best way to communicate. But is it? Let's talk about memory and focus.
Talking is one of these things that you can multitask. You know what I am writing about:
driving & talking,
shopping & talking,
eating & talking,
cooking & talking,
gaming & talking,
working & talking.
What do you think, how strong is your focus on these two activities? 50/50? If so, you can't elaborate the same way when you have 100% focus on talking subject. This kind of "50% talking" could be good for e-sports, because you are operating in a very limited and command-oriented language. This is a very raw form of communication. Too raw in a workplace.
