I don't believe in superheroes (but I believe in YOU).

I wish superheroes were real.

But no one I know is climbing walls and shooting webs out of their wrists.

But I do believe in one type of "superhero."

Individuals who do multiple jobs.

These people often wear many hats in startups or smaller companies. The finance person must also help with interviewing. The salesperson is responsible for assisting a customer with support questions.

Is this ideal? No. But it's reality.

And I believe it's one of the quickest ways to career-mastery.

By understanding many different functions and domains, you bring a greater range of knowledge and practical wisdom to your job.

You could always say, "That's not my job." But what you're really saying is, "I do not want to grow right now."

By doing multiple jobs, you split your focus but improve your flexibility and ability to think.

That's why experts are the worst thinkers.

They only push their solution and usually cannot see the forest for the trees. Moreover, they have little experience outside their domain, which shows when problems arise in areas overlapping their field and others.

The best thinkers are those with a wealth of experiences that hopefully led to greater knowledge and wisdom.

While getting bit by a spider is unlikely to give you supernatural powers, being receptive to expanding yourself by doing many different responsibilities will likely lead to superpower strengths.

If you currently wear many hats, this one goes out to you.

Thank you for all that you do, and realize the strength you're building.
