This is a hill I'm willing to die on...

I believe most humans should write daily.

I mean, we all do, whether through emails, a report, or a social media update.

But I'm speaking about a dedicated chunk of time to write. 15-30 minutes where all you do is write.

What does that look like?
  • Structured writing about your feelings in a journal
  • Brain dumping whatever is on your mind into a notebook
  • Writing content for social media or an article for your blog

Why am I bullish on this?

Writing leads to better thinking. The more you write, the more you think.

And by thinking a lot, you will slowly get better at thinking. And when you can think clearly and well, you will make better decisions.

And better decisions lead to a better personal and professional life.

Too many people live fast-paced lives where they rarely think. They may use mental heuristics or biases, but they don't spend time critically thinking. Unfortunately, this leads to bad decisions that can even ruin a future.

And by sitting to write every day, you begin to think more critically.

It doesn't happen overnight, but it's a clear benefit I've derived from writing daily for a year plus.

Wouldn't it be nice to think with greater clarity resulting in a higher decision-making capacity?

If yes, then write every day.
