That’s not the way Russ Solomon sees life.

One of my favorite entrepreneurs is Russ Solomon. He created Tower Records.

He created a culture and cultivated a passion. Tower Records had the greatest marketing slogan ever. Fit for purpose, know your audience. It will never be matched. “No music. No life.”

In the excellent Tower Records documentary, “All Things Must Pass,” someone was speaking about Russ and the compassionate way he did business and maintained relationships - contrary to normal record industry sharks.

He was speaking about the way Russ treated him when he was in a bad spot in his life and career. Russ, offered a simple gesture of kindness and compassion. He said that anyone else in the business would have ignored him, and offered fake platitudes.

“That’s not the way Russ Solomon sees life.”

It was an intense moment for the interviewee. It made me pause the film. It made me think about the impact you can have on others, one-to-one or en masse.

It made me think about how simple acts of kindness and compassion can change a life or influence an action.

Everyday. Everything. Everything matters.

Here’s to Russ.
