Why I No Longer Use Mainstream Social Media

For those that know me I am a very private person, I will let you know what I want you to know. As WWE wrestler edge used in his 1998 debut "You Think You Know Me" which fits well for 99.99% of people including work colleagues. Now in a short nutshell I left mainstream social media for privacy reasons due to the insanity of the social media ban laws in Australia forcing adults to verify themselves and upload sensitive ID documents so they can be doxxed later on with a data breach like the women's dating app Tea or even Discord which is why my podcasting accounts across services like X (formally twitter), Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, and Discord have been either deleted or no longer active.

Mastodon on the other hand for now doesn't have to legally force users to upload ID's to use the services, being an open network anyone can set up their own server called an instance and essentially talk to people on other servers personally I don't know why governments don't run their own instances and post certain accounts like defence, meteorology, state politicians etc... to get away from the big social media tech then they could essentially post whatever they want as they own the infrastructure.

If you liked this article please consider following me on Mastodon and/or sending me a small amount to buy me a coffee.
