I've written multiple guides on how to start a podcast. They're good, but here I just wanted to keep things simple.
All you need to host a podcast is:
- A USB microphone: the Samson Q2U or ATR2100X are both good
- A computer, tablet, or mobile phone that you can plug your USB microphone into
- Software to edit your audio (GarageBand on Mac or iOS, Descript, Audacity)
- A hosting platform that will host your audio files and generate your podcast's RSS feed
Podcasting in three steps:
- Record your episode.
- Edit your audio and export it as MP3.
- Upload and publish on a hosting platform.
Getting your podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc
Once one episode is published in your RSS feed, you can submit it to all the directories. Here's a list:

- Submit to Spotify
- Submit to Google Podcasts
- Submit to TuneIn
- Submit to Pocket Casts
- Submit to Castro
- Submit to RadioPublic
- Submit to Breaker Audio
- Submit to Stitcher
