Outside of working on movies, (did you see our Oscar Nominated film "Love and Monsters" 😆) I've been dipping my toe into Producing commercials and so far, I've really enjoyed the experience!
Here's a look at the latest commercial I Produced for a company called Betterhelp (we made a total of 5!), and below I'll talk a little bit about my Producers workflow to help get the commercial off the ground.
My workflow
I can't speak to how other Producers work, but I'm grateful that the Directors I've been working with (shout out to Alight Films) and I have a great creative relationship. I've worked with Christopher since 2009 and we're basically of the same mind at this point.
What does a Producer on a commercial actually do?
Below is a glimpse at 2 weeks worth of pre-production updates posted to the Chapter 4 Entertainment and the Alight Films team, updating everyone on what I worked on for that week, so that we can all be on the same page.
Here'a another update 1 week before the shoot:
The creative aspect of Producing is one of the least talked about, yet very interesting elements to the job that I really enjoy. Working with the team to hire the cast & crew, finding our location, discussing the visual approach with Chris and Mia, as well as working with them during the editorial process was really satisfying creatively.
I'm grateful that we had a successful shoot, working with a wonderful cast and crew who brought their A game to set everyday. Shoutout to my right hand man Hank who joined the C4E team and really did his thing on the commercial.
In an ideal world, I'll Produce commercials in between making movies, so I'm going to speak it into existence to you and do everything I can to make that become a reality.
Let me know what you think of the commercial?!
