Hej y'all! It's our first week in Sweden!

Hello lovely friends n' fam,

[NOTE: This is a blog that gets published like an email. I'm experimenting with Hey World as an alternative to social media to keep friends & family updated. If you'd like my new posts sent directly to your email, subscribe below! You will be able to reply to those emails directly to my email.]

Today marks our first full week in Sweden!!! Summer is just beginning and the days feel perfect for a light jacket and an energetic walk. While the locals call it warm weather I'd describe it as **((JUST A LITTLE BIT CHILLY))**((I AM WEAK))**. We've been roaming all over the city on our leggies as this city (and country, and continent) is all about walking, cycling, taking the bus, or catching a train. There are cars here but they seem at the mercy of the swirling mass of human-powered humans.

Adjusting to the new daylight is strange and wondrous. The sun rises just before 4am and sets just before 10pm (22:00). I've accidentally stayed up till midnight and woken up at 3am many times. The night sky is always the most tempting shade of pre-dawn purple-blue, like the sunrise is just around the corner. Birdsong from the forest calls me out of slumber. Nelson and I have enjoyed spending early mornings in the forest sketching. On Sunday the rain sent us home to make a second cup of coffee.

I really like my job and feel like I'm lucky to work with some extremely kind and creative people. Tomorrow is DINO DAY 2023!!! If you like video games please check out Go Fight Fantastic! on Steam. The newest demo goes live tomorrow June 1, 2023 and the final game comes out this fall.

Nelson and I are also celebrating 4 years married together tomorrow, June 1! Needless to say, playing in the forest and jumping around the apartment like happy little monkeys tell me this partnership continues to be the best decision I ever made. Now, for statistics!

SWEDIE STATS:
Average cups of coffee per day: 3
Average hours slept: ...3? 6? Sometimes 11? UNPREDICTABLE.
Average distance walked daily: 8k / 5 mi
Culture shocks: ketchup on pasta, cars stop for pedestrians
New Swedish food unlocked: Stekt fläsk med löksås och potatis - (fried strips of ham and onion sauce served with potatoes), årtsoppa och pankakor (traditional Thursday meal of yellow pea soup with chunks of bacon and side of pancakes with berry jam and whipped cream)
Favorite place: Stadsskogen (local city forest / nature reserve)
New Swedish phrase unlocked:  when trying to find a seat on a crowded sofa -"Finns det hjärterum, så finns det stjärterum" (if there's room for heart, there's room for ass)

Keep in touch!
Signal - for text / calls / and silly video stories about nonsense
Email - you already have it. I read it!
Google hangouts - we're probably already in a group chat
Zoom & Discord - I love video hangouts
Letters - coming soon!

Lots of love to y'all.

Hej då for now.
