I've not blogged regularly since the dawn of the dinosaurs.
Okay, maybe not that long, but since approximately whenever it was that LiveJournal got bought out and then made people uncomfortable regarding the Russian government, or whatever. I would have stuck it out, but nobody else was on the platform anymore. I tried for a while to Become Active on the blogging platform that a lot of people moved to afterward, but could never really get into it. ("Which one, Keffy?" I actually am unable to remember right now, but I'm sure it'll come to me eventually.)
Two reasons for that, I guess. First, if I wanted to just run my mouth I could do that on Twitter. Second, I felt Pressure to Build Up An Audience and without even the friends list I had from starting on LiveJournal in uhhhhh 2001, I had nobody! NOBODY CARES.
Okay, so what's different about using this service to blog instead? Well, I'll probably still be talking to exactly nobody, BUT nobody has to know that I'm talking to nobody. YOU can't see how many people are clicking on the link and reading this, or how many people are completely ignoring my yammering. As far as the world knows, I'm talking to a loyal, silent following of 7 million people who are all eagerly waiting for my next pronouncement.
That said, I do have things that I want to talk about that don't really work well in the Twitter format. Partly because, you know, character limit. Partly because it's not intended to be a forever thing. And partly because if you've ever had a LONG THOUGHT on Twitter and put it in a thread, you know how easy it is to fuck the thread up, or people respond mid-thread and then it's fucked up, etc.
Anyway. I'm assuming that if you're here you have some idea of who I am. I'm hoping to Have Thoughts for you to think about regarding writing, science, the magic of freelance, health shenanigans, and DOGS DOGS DOGS. Oh, and a cat.
Anyway. This is one part blog, one part mailing list, one part Keffy trying to return from the dead.

You literally are just going to get an email with whatever words and links I put in, but no shit where it tells me if you opened it or didn't open it or deleted it or read it in Nepal or whatever. Where are you? Who are you? Are you reading this? I don't know. I don't care. That's up to you.
Honestly? It's a little freeing.
