She had been a surprise for young Emma, who’d found her nestled under the tree that morning, wrapped in a red bow. It had been love at first sight.

Emma and Mittens had been inseparable all day. Now, as the family gathered to admire the tree, Mittens explored her new world. She was fascinated by the shiny ornaments dangling just within reach. With a determined wiggle of her tail, she pounced at a glittering red ball, sending it swinging wildly.
