Butterfly Time

For the last 2 years, Kalena and Brigsby have captured, fed, and taken care of a caterpillar until it changes to a butterfly. Today was release day.

A Drive to San Antonio

We haven’t flown since the pandemic began, but we have started taking some conservative road trips. This past week, we went to San Antonio and Fredericksburg. A lot of places were still closed, but we were able to do a good bit of outdoor stuff. The zoo was a hit, as was the Riverwalk and outdoor shopping. Hopefully we can soon return ...

Baseball is Back!

While the shortened season in 2020 was entertaining and a nice distraction, it sure is nice to start this season on time (except for you Mets and Nats fans). We generally take a trip to Atlanta and one or more to Houston every season to catch some games. I’m cautiously optimistic that we’ll be able to do that again this year!

Changing Password Managers

I’ve been using (and paying for) 1Password for the last few years with very few complaints. In fact, I can honestly say it has only improved over that time. The only strike against it is it isn’t a first party app. As well built as it is, it still has its frustrations (at no fault of its own). As such, I decided to migrate to Apple’s b...

I've been after for years. For a long time it was an inactive blog by someone (I would hope another Matt Langford) who wouldn't respond to my emails. For the last few years, it has been for sale for a premium price I could in no way justify paying. I made multiple offers (low triple digits) in an attempt to acquire it,...

Eliminate Time Changes

“This month, a bipartisan group of senators introduced a bill to make daylight time permanent year-round. In a statement, Senator Ron Wyden, Democrat of Oregon, said that “springing forward and falling back year after year only creates unnecessary confusion while harming Americans’ health and our economy.”” Honestly, why would anyone b...

A New Landing Page

I decided to make a new landing page at my personal domain. I took queues from the popular "link in bio" sites we see everywhere, but made it my own. The plan is to basically leave it alone for the foreseeable future, but I say things like that often without sticking to it. I have no problem sharing the source code or helping you set u...

Privacy and the Internet

Privacy is a tricky and subjective topic, especially as it relates to the internet. What can the government see? What do social media networks know? What can my nefarious neighbor access? Is it ok to put my social security number in this application? How do I remember a thousand different passwords? While the landscape is ever changing...
