A new word
I learnt a new word called “macerate” from Mark Manson's newsletter.
A reader wrote to him: “It took me years before I decided to start therapy. I used to think that I was good at "watching my mind" and able to analyze the causes of my issues. However, I had to acknowledge that being able to analyze my mind did not allow me to solve my problems any more than that. I was often macerating in my thoughts and emotions, which then took on exaggerated proportions compared to the facts that had provoked them.”
To macerate is to soak in. To macerate in thoughts and emotion is to marinate yourselves in thoughts...
The mistaken origin of Spanish flu And no, Spanish flu didn't originate from Sprain, contrary to its name. A soldier contracted it on a farm in Kanas and spread it to others in Europe when he went on a mission. And of course, the US government prohibited the media from disclosing the origin. Hence a different name was coined.
A simple way to keep birds away Was walking at my hood and noticed how a local nursery uses aluminium foils to keep birds away from their fruit trees. The reflection of the foil projects a glare that bothers their eyes, keeping them away from your fruits. The foil is an item that you probably have in your home anyway. Nothing fancy, but does its job.
