From idea to impact : my entrepreneurship journey

I've been itching to write about my wild ride as an entrepreneur for quite some time now. So, I decided to sit down and map out what the content could be. Anyone who knows me will tell you that my biggest passions in life are the environment and entrepreneurship.

To me, the two go together. I believe that entrepreneurship is a key enabler to fight against climate change. If we want to preserve our planet, we need to change our behaviors and shift our economy to a more sustainable model. Entrepreneurship seems to be the perfect vehicle for driving that change and making a real impact.

For the last ten years, I've been involved in many entrepreneurship journeys. Being a software engineer, I have sought to use my skills to fight against climate change. I'm not a "tech-solutionist" who thinks technology alone can preserve our planet without changing anything in our behavior and society. I do think technology can play a role to keep an eye on what is happening and make us more aware of what needs to change. In 2015, I started Opinum with a few colleagues. It's been a rollercoaster but we are now a team of 22 passionate individuals using their software skills to drive the energy transition. We have made remarkable strides in our recent efforts, as evidenced by our success in enabling 95% of French cities to accelerate their journey towards greater energy efficiency. As one of the founder of Opinum, I've been through fundraisings, growth and have successfully exited the company to Itineris. I'm still in the driving seat of the company, working to grow the impact we can have.

The same year, I adapted the Business Model Canvas to make sure entrepreneurs take into account sustainability when mapping their business idea. If you are interested, you can download it here.

I was also intrigued by alternative forms of businesses. I delved into the concept of citizen cooperatives and, once again, decided to use my software skill to help these types of companies professionalize. I founded CoopHub (and I'm now Board Member), a cooperative management software supporting 15.000+ cooperators and growing. These types of companies are incredibly resilient and, to me, more socially responsible.

I still have projects that I want to share with you. However, the main goal of these publications will be to share lessons learned, ideas, and opinions. I don't put pressure on myself to release frequent articles, so if you are interested in what's coming next, you can register to be notified by email of new releases on this page.

Looking forward!
