Hey there š,
First things first: if you want to understand a part of my world, hereās where it started ā the first book I ever read: Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World.
So now⦠why this post? Because Iām really frustrated. This week has been terrible.
I just wanted to keep working on my hairdresser booking system, because I know my hairdresser wants it ā sheās been asking me for it for about two years. But until now, I wasnāt able to create a profitable service.
And Iāve lost so much time on things that, in the end, donāt matter. I hate losing time⦠it creates real frustration for me. I just want to get things done.
Anyway, back to the point⦠š
My main secret for getting a lot of things done? Just forget.
I honestly canāt even tell you all the apps I built in July this year. I know there are a lot, but Iād have to check my dashboard to remember exactly what Iāve done.
Also, of course, all distractions are prevented: my phone does not ring if you are not in my contacts; I will not see your mail if you are not in the whitelist. Notifications, for the most part, are disabledāonly banking ones stay enabled.
The book I mentioned is really interesting on this point. We could think that a Facebook notification is nothing, but it gets you out of what you are doing. But for what? Nothing that really matters.
As I said before, when things arenāt done, it creates real frustration in me. For example, when I was working on LFMaps, I started building the landing page at 1:00 PM with a clear idea of what I wanted. I kept working until 8:00 PM, when it finally went live.
Some of you told me, āI feel like you're always going a mile a minute and thinking about a million things.ā
Thatās true ā and part of it is because of my visual impairment.
I was born with a congenital cataract. When I donāt keep my mind active, I sometimes see āwhite flashesā
Thinking, working, and creating help me avoid them. Iāve read that many people with this kind of disability can become depressed.
Thatās not the case for me, I always have lots to keep me busy! š
Have a nice day š.
