👍 Use OpenAI's Whisper on your Mac for "Speech to text"

WhatsApp voice messages: convenient for those who send them, annoying for those who receive them... 😅

Let me tell you! 📱

I have a pretty intense flow of information every day, whether it's emails, messages... etc.

I've set up systems to sort through all of that, focus my attention on what matters and set aside what's not very important.

(Push notifications from ads? They're gone 🚫).

And in the pile, sometimes I receive WhatsApp voice messages. If I didn't have a way to transcribe them quickly, I'd completely miss out.

While text can be skimmed to see if there's one or more pieces of information to take in, a voice message has to be listened to entirely. 👂

So, voice messages take forever. ⏰

But that was before we had technologies to do "Speech to text" efficiently.

The most well-known is Whisper, from OpenAI (the people who make ChatGPT). 🤖

This week, I'm showing you how to set up Whisper on macOS to quickly transcribe your long voice messages (WhatsApp for example).
