6 Tactical Lessons from Last Week (17.02.2025)

(1) 6-6 Work Split. Spend the first half of the day alleviating the constraint. And the second half building. For example, if the constraint is conversion, I’d spend the first half of my day on the sales process. And if we needed to track the performance of our ads, I’d spend the second half setting up the data (building).

(2) Prioritise Maker time. You pull the future forward in this time. It’s when you complete the important projects that drive tremendous growth.

(3) 15-min chunks. Set an alarm to go off every 15 minutes. And note down what you did (I use Google Calendar). Now you know how you’re spending your time.

(4) There's only two ways to grow a business. (I) Get more customers. (II) Increase LTGP. That’s it. If your 'work'  doesn’t ladder up to one of those two things, it's output is zero.

(5) Dopamine. The brain can’t differentiate between video games, or growing the business. It only knows how much dopamine each activity releases. So it’ll crave the one that releases the most. If you play video games, it will be incredibly hard to do deep work. I’ve practically eliminated all things that spike my dopamine during my work day. This makes it quite easy to “feel motivated” and “enjoy work”.

Three Bonus Lessons:
(I) People do ordinary things and expect extraordinary results. The great company is often just doing 20-50x more volume than you. They do in a day, what you do in a month. Volatility is a result of inconsistency with inputs.

(II) We can only control what we do today (inputs); we cannot control outputs. So our focus every day should be doing the inputs the best we can. If we do this, the output will follow naturally.

(III) You build a great business by doing the fundamentals consistently. Operational excellence.
