Goals of a Universal Income Cooperative

I have been thinking about the goals of a Universal Income Cooperative and have come up with the below...

  • To Transfer Pledges at the Lowest Possible Cost
  • To Have a High Degree of Trust
  • To Have a High Degree of Transparency
  • To Increase Support for Universal Basic Income
  • To Connect Everyone Living on this Planet
  • To Communicate the Best Parts of Humankind
  • To Create Fertile Grounds for Human Flourishing

Don't think I need to dive too deeply into cost so I'll go through each of the remaining ones...

Trust

Everyone believes that the the system is delivering as advertised: That it is collecting pledges; that it is paying dividends.

Transparency

Everyone knows the details of everything that happened: what everyone gave ; what everyone got; and what the system spent as costs.

Some of these would be legal requirements, but there is also a privacy aspect to manage.

Support

There is already wide support for a Universal Basic Income, but having a social enterprise would test people's beliefs, "how do we know people are spending their dividends wisely", but also to get people excited, "money for nothing?!", and start the conversations that will build firm support.

Humankind & Connection

When I was still on social media, I was constantly looking at my phone for the latest news from the world, always anxious, what was I expecting to see? "World becomes a better place!", "All problems solved!", it was never going to happen.

With a Universal Income Cooperative, we can look at the collective dividend rise in real time; we can see that people are choosing to give, to support one another.

Flourishing

We can also see the results of human flourishing that a Universal Income Cooperative has enabled in the stories of the people who's lives have changed as a result of the positive impact.

When more people can follow their passions, and scratch their itches, we will see more than just money being shared, but more care, more hope, and better ideas.
