Ploudalmézeau (Finistère, France)
Every morning, the gentle sound of the sea greets me. It is always the first sound of the day. This is followed by the melodic singing of birds. Sometimes a strong wind sweeps across the coast, but often there is a soothing stillness in the air.
The wide window facing east opens a new world to me every morning. The colorful spectacle of the rising sun, the dance of birds in the gardens, and the hovering seagulls gliding in the clear sky create a meditative calm within me.
The atmosphere is refreshing and crystal clear. On cloudless days, a magnificent starry sky reveals itself. No artificial light obscures the view above – only the rhythmically flashing beam of a lighthouse breaks through the darkness.
The beauty of this sight exceeds my ability to put it into words. This is the first place where so many things come together harmoniously. It is the first place of which I can say with conviction: This could be our home. We feel extraordinarily comfortable here.
The effects of extending our stay are showing. At work, I am finally making good progress again, which gives me back a sense of security. But I also feel very comfortable otherwise. I am simply happy that we are here.
On a sunny afternoon, she sits down and works through the points we compiled the evening before. Again and again, she asks me something, and I help her willingly. Finally, she composes an email to T. The small project, with which a few people won't save the world but hopefully make it a bit better – we want to offer our help for that. This is the first small step in this direction.
I believe I have been at the sea almost every day. When she doesn't have time, I go alone. And almost always in recent days, I go to the clearing from which one can wonderfully observe the roaring sea.
I don't know when I was last as happy as I am these days. These are perfect days in a perfect place. And the perfect time in my entire life. I am enjoying life and being here.
