The from Cork to Dublin - The Green Barn and The Wicklow Mountains

We drove from Cork to Dublin and made sure to drive through the Wicklow Mountains.

Going through the mountains adds about an hour to the trip, but is is absolutely worth it.

Before getting to the mountains, we had the unexpected find of the trip.

We were starving so we got off the M9 at an exit and just looked on Apple Maps for a place to eat. We stumbled across The Green Barn Restaurant, part of Burtown Home and Gardens.

Here are some pictures. Trust me, if you are close, you should stop in. 


After a fantastic lunch, we continued our drive through the Wicklow Mountains. The best way to get there is to program a stop in Hollywood (on the edge of the Wicklow Mountains). From there, go to Laragh. From there, use your Map app to get to the Wicklow Mountain SAC... that will take you right over the top of the mountains.

The view is amazing. Unlike anything I have seen in the US. Pictures below (Guinness gets their water from a spring in these mountains) :
