Day 10: 2022-09-19: Tallahassee to Miami

Ooops: I just noticed that I sent Day 9's update with the wrong date. I did a much better job of keeping up with things last year!

I headed out of Tallahassee (after replacing my headlamp) back to US 98 and sometimes US 27 to go through Central Florida. I've driven the outer coast before and wanted to see the inland stretches. I was generally rewarded, and also astonished: for hours, there was a ton of fairly open road with either forests or farmland plains as far as I could see, and barely any traffic. The road occasionally required slowing down as we met small towns or crossing roads.

I was starting to be hungry after a few hours on the road, and the thought occurred to me: if I see a donut shop, maybe I could pop in. And then minutes later, I saw one! and it was closed. Fortunately, another showed up a few more miles down the road. Alas, there were no kolaches.

As I approached the traffic of Miami, I switched over to the interstate to take me in for my final approach to my hotel near the airport. From there, I got to my final MLB ballpark of the trip: loanDepot Park to watch the Marlins host the Cubs.

This ballpark also has a retractable roof, which was closed for the game. I was astonished by how far I could stand from the stadium and feel its air conditioning. I also was kicking myself for not fully exploring the food choices: I was pretty hungry and opted for a pizza, but then noticed that there were other local options like Cuban sandwiches or arepas.

All in all, a pretty nice night!
