I said to my self

Recently on a ride to my cross state bus trip, I overheard my Uber driver listening to Freakenomics, talking about our relationship with rats. And Dubner talked to    the creator of Ratatouille  . I  learned he initially got recognition, for creating a short for pixar about his grandfather playing chess against himself, Geri's Game, (linked). A very fun short, that I can see how it impressed the Pixar folks , but makes me think about our solo journeys with the internet and its wisdom as our guide. Sure we have Chat GPT , Claude,  Grok and others, but before we had 20 years of Google search and Dr WebMd. Of course for those of software backgrounds we have had Stackoverflow too. We have been steering our own health, careers and finances for a long time now.

Sure other humans compiled the wisdom in the books scanned by Googles Project Gutenberg , and a private army of editors under the Wikipedia of jimmy wales indexes and encyclopediates human knowledge and  experts and journalists and nerds  ( like me!) of all stripes who are passionate about subjects, will share what they know, but at the consumer end is you ( and me!) , playing God with our own lives, deciding decisions using all the neurons in our brains.

We are playing Geri's game, perhaps more than ever with Chat with prompting. Setting up a question and is context in a chat GPT prompt  feels like getting 40 or 50% of the way there.

And no matter how smart open AI , Anthropic and others chat APIs  and agents get , the experts and journalists and nerds , we still need to curate the knowledge on the other and, so Geri can keep playing .
