By the time you read this, the 2021 edition of The Norseman Extreme Triathlon is already complete.

This is a race many want to compete in, hence the lottery selection. Additionally, it has an element of further selection in that only a certain number of athletes get to complete the course up the mountain. The remainder must finish the lower portion of the run course.

This is one of my bucket list races, although I do not know if it will ever be realistic. I like the unusual challenges, even one that would pit me against weather conditions that are completely unlike my usual training. My goal would inevitably be to climb that mountain, which means I'd need to train up to the point of making sure I could make the cut in the first place.

Every August, I try my best to tune in and follow the action. To feel like I'm part of the experience, even from afar. Someday, I can hope to participate and throw myself at the challenge.
