When I Grow Up

I really enjoyed today’s (May 7th, 2021) Radio Headspace episode, “I Want To Be…”

I’m a big proponent of continuing to grow, to make progress, and to keep finding new goals. Just because you reach an age and think you are supposed to have “made it” does not mean you should hang everything up and be content without new horizons to reach.

I hit a milestone age later this year, but by no means do I consider that a stopping point. There’s no reason to think that I cannot reach for the next challenge. Being “grown up” does not mean one is done growing (and personally I prefer the host’s suggestion of NOT growing up anyway, but those close to me already know that).

When I posted this on Instagram, I attached it to a photo of myself in my strength training gear to make the following point: I could decide that training is a younger man’s game, but forget that. I’m more than happy to push myself into the next decade with a hard training grind. Still plenty of time left to compete and try to beat today.
