Pixel Perfect Picks #115 - Pokémon, Artists Way, Brthwrk

Hey there 👋

Welcome to this installment of Pixel Perfect Picks. Here I'm sharing something that I heard, read, and saw. You can subscribe to this newsletter here. I'm additionally publishing a more extended essay about software development, design, and freelancing every month.

Saw Something

Yes, I admit it, I'm a Pokémon kid. Of course I was incredibly excited about the new game that came out last week. After all, it includes some of the biggest innovations in years. And yes, I have to confess that I was totally absorbed in it over the weekend, even if it's not the most beautiful game. The core Pokémon mechanics just hook me again and again.

Read Something

I finally finished reading The Artist's Way. The Morning Pages have become second nature, and I'm truly grateful for this experience and the addition to my routines. I now believe the simple version that only introduces the tools is completely sufficient. The main book with the 12-week program felt a bit too esoteric in places.

Heard Something

In the last newsletter, I mentioned an episode of the Tim Ferriss Podcast that covered breathing techniques. Now I’ve found the best app for me that helps with exactly that: Breathwrk. It’s now part of Peloton, but I hope it stays the same, because I find the short exercises and guided breathing incredibly helpful in everyday life.
