Pixel Perfect Picks #137 - Hotkeys, Company AI, Life OS

Hey there 👋

Welcome to this installment of Pixel Perfect Picks. Here I'm sharing something that I heard, read, and saw. You can subscribe to this newsletter here. I'm additionally publishing a more extended essay about software development, design, and freelancing every month.

Saw Something

I've been spending more and more time thinking about how AI agents and designers can actually work together well. And then Hotkeys landed in my feed and I immediately bookmarked it. It's a curated directory of AI agent skills built specifically for designers. Think of it as things like UI review, accessibility checks, component work. Really, really well done. Definitely worth exploring if you're building your own AI workflow.

Read Something

Getting companies to actually use AI is a completely different skill from using AI yourself. Mike Taylor has been doing exactly that, and this piece on every.to is one of the more honest and practical takes I've read on it. No hype, just things that actually work. Number one on his list: buy models directly from providers. Simple, but it changes everything.

Heard Something

I've been going down a rabbit hole around personal operating systems lately and using AI not just for work but to actually run your life better. Hilary Gridley's approach completely won me over. She calls it an "anti-system system" built with Claude Code, and this video shows exactly how. I started using Life OS shortly after and honestly haven't looked back.
