Fred again.. and Latin Mafia have been slowly building toward a joint mixtape for two years now, and it's finally here. Last December, the night before the final USB002 show in Mexico City, they filmed under the fabric, a spontaneous audiovisual performance shot beneath a fabric installation in an empty venue. It's gorgeous, intimate, and clearly the seed of everything that followed. Then last week they locked themselves in a Mexico City studio and livestreamed the entire process of finishing the project, working non-stop until it was done. The result, 9 months and 50 hours, dropped on July 31 and it's a genuinely beautiful, strange, and adventurous listen. Knowing the raw, unfiltered process that made it makes the final record hit even harder.

Kyle Galbraith wrote something this week that a lot of engineers are quietly nodding along to. His argument is that GitHub's entire paradigm, built around human review, human comments, human-paced collaboration, is the wrong shape for a world where AI agents now generate code at machine speed. What we actually need is infrastructure built for high-throughput automated work, not tools retrofitted from a slower era. GitHub is the wrong shape for this new world. Provocative title, solid argument behind it.

Nate B Jones tackled something I hadn't thought carefully about: AI detection tools like Pangram can tell you whether a piece of text was written or AI-assisted, but they have no way to measure whether the actual ideas in it are meaningful or original. His proposed fix is what he calls an Ideas Graph, mapping conceptual relationships instead of just word-level patterns. Worth the watch. Changed how I think about what "AI-written" even means as a category.
