Pixel Perfect Picks #70 - Soul Sets, Paper Screens & Variables

Hey there 👋

Welcome to this installment of Pixel Perfect Picks. Here I'm sharing something that I heard, read, and saw. You can subscribe to this newsletter here. I'm additionally publishing a more extended essay about software development, design, and freelancing every month.

Heard Something

Outside, it's slowly becoming truly autumnal, and all you really want to do is lounge on the couch at home and make yourself comfortable. What you need for that is good, cozy music. I discovered the channel of GUN GUN through the magical YouTube algorithm, which offers a very smooth and chill vibe in its WAV Sessions. Unbelievably great, simple yet relaxing sets of jazz, soul, R&B, and more!

Read Something

Whenever Joey Banks writes something in long form, you can say that it is very well thought out. Recently, he provided a brilliant insight into how he organizes and structures variables in Figma. And I can only say that the 10 minutes were absolutely worth it. With this structured approach, managing variables becomes significantly easier!

Saw Something

After the announcement of the new iPad Mini, I, of course, ordered it. For me, the form factor is perfect, and my iPad Mini will now replace my iPad Pro 12.9 (yes, I know, it's crazy). But that's not the main story. Since I am currently writing a lot on the iPad, I was looking for a good screen protector that wouldn't compromise the display quality and still provides a good writing experience. After a while, I came across Paperize, a German startup that has designed a magnetic film that makes it feel like writing on paper. I haven't tested it yet, but I can definitely provide an update next week!
