Hey there 👋
Welcome to this installment of Pixel Perfect Picks. Here I'm sharing something that I heard, read, and saw. You can subscribe to this newsletter here. I'm additionally publishing a more extended essay about software development, design, and freelancing every month.
This is the first edition of this newsletter in 2025, so if you're reading this: Happy New Year 🥳 I took it easy at the beginning of the year and started a week later with the newsletter. I'm going to run some small experiments here, but mainly, everything will stay as it is. New year, same newsletter.

Heard Something
Obviously, I've listened to a lot of music in the little break I got at the end of the year, and it was not all Christmas songs! I have to say now that the Tiny Desk Series from NPR slowly becomes one of my favorite YouTube series ever! I just discovered the Tiny Desk concert from Doechii. That's a masterclass of rap and hip hop.
Read Something
I tried my best, but there was just no way to hide from AI discussions, even during the holiday season. Well, at least my relatives can now fix their laptop and printer issues themselves with the help of ChatGPT (lol). But that's actually not the point. One of my most admired designers and generally people in the industry, Tobias van Schneider, wrote some time ago about AI, and I read it with fascination. It's definitely a recommended read for these days.
Saw Something
One of the most interesting podcasts I've listened to at the end of the year was the Random Show from Tim Ferriss and Kevin Rose. In this episode, they briefly touched on the topics of Zen, meditation, and perceiving reality as it is. This is how I found this TED talk, which led me to so many more topics. But more on that in another edition.
PS: Quick question at the end: I've thought about also publishing this newsletter as a little video on LinkedIn, just going over the links and kicking off the week together. How does that sound?
