Pixel Perfect Picks #84 - The Silhouettes Project, Zen Books, Voicepal

Hey there 👋

Welcome to this installment of Pixel Perfect Picks. Here I'm sharing something that I heard, read, and saw. You can subscribe to this newsletter here. I'm additionally publishing a more extended essay about software development, design, and freelancing every month.

Heard Something

I am constantly on the lookout for new artists. In fact, they often just pop up in my Discover Weekly playlist. That's how I found this group: The Silhouettes Project. Unbelievably good vibes, and they are currently on repeat in the background for me.

Read Something

I am currently very engaged with meditation and the teachings of Zen. I have become an enthusiastic user of the app The Way and have also read the latest book by Henry Shukman: One Blade of Grass. It is a kind of biography that describes his journey and provides deeper insights into the teachings of Zen.

Saw Something

Following my last recommendation of a video by Ali Abdaal on managing dopamine, I also came across his app Voicepal and find it quite interesting. It doesn't work perfectly for me yet, but the approach is incredibly exciting and promising. Disclaimer: You definitely have to be the type of person who can easily talk about any topic off the cuff 😅

I love working in the realm between design and code. Some things that make me excited are CSS, Interaction design, Javascript, and making interfaces feel fun and human.

Currently, I'm designing & building interfaces for the podcast app of RTL +.  Besides that, I'm teaching UX and UI design at Memorisely.
