Pixel Perfect Picks #95 - YCombinator, Meditations, Config

Hey there 👋

Welcome to this installment of Pixel Perfect Picks. Here I'm sharing something that I heard, read, and saw. You can subscribe to this newsletter here. I'm additionally publishing a more extended essay about software development, design, and freelancing every month.

Heard Something

If there has been a project in my career that has consistently excited me, it has been Y Combinator. During my time in innovation management, I absorbed everything there is to know about this world-renowned accelerator. Therefore, I found the recent podcast from The Knowledge Project with Garry Tan particularly fascinating, as it provides exclusive insights into the work of Y Combinator and their perspective on AI.

Read Something

Meditations by Marcus Aurelius has always been one of the books that I have been incredibly often recommended. Now I have finally read it, and I must say: I definitely need a second round, but one of the core Stoic ideas has definitely stuck with me: Live virtuously, accept the unchangeable, and focus your mind on what you can control.

Saw Something

It's that time again. Last week was Config Week, and there were plenty of updates from Figma. I definitely recommend checking out the very engaging opening keynote. At first glance, I was really pleasantly surprised and find Figma's direction very interesting. It increasingly feels like a build tool rather than just a pure design tool. And that is urgently needed if Figma doesn't want to become a strange middle ground.

PS: I'm heading to London tomorrow for the in-person Config Event. If you want to say hi, just reach out 👋
