Nathaniel Gordon Buck, 23, died of natural causes in Cedar City on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025.
Nathaniel was born on Jan. 1, 2002 in Provo, Utah to Jamis Buck and Tessa Buck (nee Short). The oldest of four children, he was also the first baby born in Utah County and the second born in the state of Utah in the year 2002. At the age of four, he and his family moved to Caldwell, Idaho, where they spent the next nine years.
After his mother felt inspired to study music therapy, his family moved back to Utah, where he attended Sky View High School, receiving an award for his proficiency in German. During his time at Sky View, he also performed in several theatre productions, including a starring role in the stage play Parfumerie.
After graduating from Sky View and attending Southern Utah University for one year, he served a religious mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Germany Frankfurt mission, returning home after two years of service. At the time of his death, he was a sophomore at Southern Utah University studying communications with a media emphasis.
He is survived by his parents, Jamis and Tessa Buck, and his siblings, Kaitrin, Britton and Phoebe Buck.
Friends and family are invited to the burial on Feb. 2. Viewing and funeral services will be at Southern Utah Mortuary at 11 a.m. at 3rd West and 200 North. The burial at Cedar City Cemetery will begin at 3 p.m.
