🔍 How I can tell, in 30 seconds, that your company is not serious about impact, and how you can fix that.

Your website.

That's it. Your website tells me everything I need to know.

If your company is serious about making better impact, then you have to be serious about telling the world. There is no better place than the front page of your website.

There are many ways to do this. Examples range from talking about your vision of the future, to the mission you have chosen, or how you describe your products, and of course, showing the progress you are making vs the ambition you still wish to fulfil.

Beyond these options there are two other things I look for on every website I visit. The first is how a company showcases the team. If I find nothing, or worse, generic blah blah, about the team then it's likely that positive impact isn't on the priority list.

By the way - I'm creating the book and podcast series for people who want their small or medium business to make more profit and better impact. So if you want more of this, please sign up for more at https://sixtyminutestoimpact.xyz

The second, is (a link to) some sort of published impact report. For most companies this is still quite a new idea - but it's pretty simple to execute, if you're serious about making better impact.

So if you want to stand out from the crowd, and start to distance yourself from the competition, go take a look at the front page of your website. Because that's where all future customers and team members start their journey with you.

One caveat: If you're not serious about impact, don't think you can get away with faking it on your website. Your customers and future team mates are smart enough to see through your impact washing.
