Operation Cannoli Newsletter #39 -- On your Mark, Get Set, GO!

Ciao a Tutti,

Great news! I have the Power of Attorney (POA) from our lawyer, and it’s ready for you to go get notarized. You can find it attached to this message.

A couple of notes about that:

  • Please don’t edit that document in any way.
  • Print out a copy and bring it to a notary to sign in front of the notary. I know that there are not signature, name, or date lines. If you can print and sign your name, that would be cool, especially if you name is not immediately obvious from your signature. Your notary can then just sign wherever makes the most sense.
  • You will need to have that POA apostilled. If you are living in Washington, California, or Nevada, you can send it in with any other documents that need to be apostilled in that state, and they will take care of it together (e.g., Kaitlyn can send the notarized POA and her birth certificate in for apostille together).
  • If you have it notarized in Oregon, you can just send it straight to me, along with any other Oregon documents, and I will take care of Oregon Apostilles in one big request.
  • It’s weird, I agree, that it has all of our names on it, but that only one of us will sign each copy, and that we will hand in ten copies of essentially the same document. But that’s the way we are supposed to do it!

I will send each of you emails this weekend about specific document stuff, confirming what I already have and what I still need. I will also clarify if I can take care of any Oregon apostilles for you. Since that will be tailored to each of you, I will not address any of that in this message.

One last topic: after you receive documents with apostilles, there are a few things to know or remember:
  • DO NOT REMOVE ANY STAPLES OR STICKERS! I’m sorry for yelling. If you remove staples or stickers, this will invalidate the apostille and you will need to send it back to get a new one.
  • Make sure you scan or take a picture of the apostille page. It might be easiest to take a good picture or scan of your document now before you send it away, if you haven’t already.
  • Once you have all of your apostilled documents back, send them to me or let me know how I can get them from you!

Please let me know what questions you have, and I will do my best to answer them! Thanks for your help with this step — I can’t do this one without your help.

Con Amore,

Noah
