Hello All,
Our hearing was on Wednesday. I’m sure you’ve been curious to know what happened, so here is your update!
The judge in our case, Nicola Saracino, chose not to make a ruling and to refer our case to a panel of three judges who will decide the outcome of our case. It is not clear to me if this was always what was going to happen or if there was a chance he would have simply issued a verdict. Whatever the case might have been, we are now waiting to have a hearing scheduled with this panel of three judges. The annoying news is that we need to keep waiting. The good news is that these three-judge panels have always ruled in our favor historically.
I have asked our attorney about the timeline for our hearing, but I have not heard back. I will share what I hear from him.
For those of you curious about the timeline after we get a positive verdict, I would estimate a year between that date and having a passport in hand. It could be sooner, but 12 months is a really safe bet. When that time comes, I’ll be there to help you get registered with the consulate and schedule an appointment to get a passport.

This is not the message I had hoped to send, but it’s not really bad news either. Just more waiting, a famously enjoyable activity.
Lots of Love from Milan,
Noah
