Hi All,
Quick Summary:
Quick Summary:
- New law firm seems great
- Our case, once filed, will probably have a hearing quickly
- Please send me the first payment of $215 if you haven't already
- Look our for another message for signing a POA and requesting a codice fiscale
I just got off a call with Andrea from the new law firm. I am filled with so much more confidence with this new law firm. It's bigger and seems more professional than our previous lawyer. It just feels like a better fit. Andrea answered a bunch of my questions, was clearly familiar with the documents I had shared with him about our case, and confirmed everything I know and was thinking about our case.
He let me know that things are moving more quickly in Rome than they were when we filed our initial case back in March of 2022. We had to wait about a year for our first hearing (and rejection...), and we were assigned a judge with a schedule that, at that time, had a reputation for moving quickly. Now, Andrea shared, cases are being scheduled even sooner -- they got a court date back today that is 7 months away. I don't want to get our hopes up too much in this regard, and it will take us a little time to get our case filed, but this was really nice to hear.
I am going to sign and send them the letter of engagement, and he will send me a link to make our first payment. If you have not already, please send my the first payment for our case! It's €200, which is about $215 today.
What's Next? We will be getting instructions for signing a POA -- this will hopefully be easier than last time! It will be in English, at least! You will also need to request an Italian fiscal code (or codice fiscale). It's a little like a Social Security Number, but not quite as private or important. You use it for everything in Italy.
Grazie!
Noah
