F1 is awesome!

About 2 years ago, a good friend of mine recommended this show on Netflix called "Drive to Survive" about F1 racing. At the time, I met the recommendation with a lot of skepticism and was like "F1, why would you watch that? Racing sucks!!!"  Last year during the endless slog of pandemic life, I decided to give the show a try as I was scrolling through Netflix and was hooked immediately. The show is as gripping a sports documentary program that I have ever watched and now I can't get enough of F1.

I'm finding myself setting my alarm for 6 AM PST to watch qualifying, scheduling meetups with friends to watch the races, and wanting to attend a F1 race in the near future. I think F1 is my second favorite sport behind basketball which would have just been a crazy thing for me to say as recently as 6 months ago. The sport is so exciting, the drivers exceptionally talented, and the cars are technological marvels.

Discovering new hobbies and interests can be really fun and I have really enjoyed diving into this new world that I knew so little about. I find myself coming at F1 very differently than other interests that I have had for a long time. There is a lot less skepticism and cynicism, and just more positivity because of its newness which has just made the whole process so much more exciting.

I don't know how long this binge/excitement will last for but I'm here for the ride!
