If I had a daughter

If I Had a Daughter

If I had a daughter, I’d tell her this:
The world is wide and full of bliss.
The sun rises each day with light anew,
A promise of beauty in all that you do.

I’d teach her to feel the earth beneath her feet,
To hear the wind’s whisper, soft and sweet.
To chase the rivers, wild and free,
And climb the tallest, strongest tree.

For life, my dear, is more than a screen,
More than bright pixels, a lifeless machine.
It’s in the rustle of leaves, the call of the birds,
In the quiet moments where there’s no need for words.

I’d warn her gently, with love in my eyes,
Not to let technology steal the skies.
Don’t let it dim your wonder, your grace,
Or take you far from your truest place.

For your heart is a compass, your soul is the map,
Find joy in the quiet, in the softest tap—
Of rain on the window, of your feet on the sand,
Of holding the world in the palm of your hand.

Look up from the glow of that fleeting light,
And see the stars, they shine so bright.
Feel the wind, taste the air,
In nature, my love, you’ll find answers there.

If I had a daughter, I’d show her the way,
To live fully, in every single day.
To dance with the trees, and sing with the sea,
To love this world, and most of all, be free.

For Sam.
