Note to self | lessons #2

  • While designing the plan for a 'new idea', do ask why it has not been done before
  • You may not like, love or want people as they do; you may want them much, they may not. Discernment works well here
  • The essence, the peace, the universe, the grace, the god, is within us; I spent a tremendous amount of time looking outside
  • You will elevate yourself in time: competence, skill, spiritual matters, partnerships, all of it. A key trigger will be how much you want this elevation, how deep this crisis is
  • While sharing feedback, authenticity is the key. The authenticity is the work dynamic is when you see your success in the other person's success
  • There is a leader at each level, in each sphere of life... managers have an expiry date, leaders don't
  • A leader's key route to elevation is to make herself/himself redundant
  • I am learning to reframe questions. Questions that set a limit to an outcome may well be reframed to questions that open new possibilities: I call this the 'trajectory of reframing'
  • Cliche: the quality of the answers you get is only as good as the quality of the questions asked
  • It is hard to break human-molds. Don't be disappointed. Instead, be mindful of your time. Decide if you wish to continue, or change course
  • Smile and laugh as much as possible - a person with substance who smiles brings on the charm (sans substance, he/she is the joker)
  • 'Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication', authenticity is the ultimate charm
  • In any country or line of work, the one language you will need to know is the language of numbers: learn it absolutely
  • The language of numbers will provide answers- with practice and lots of questions
  • Are the numbers linked to the decisions they 'tend' to influence, or are they conforming to a bias?
  • The language of numbers is spoken in two dialects (a) to confirm, or (b) to conform. Confirm - correct, measure, reflect, defect, gaps, ongoing... Conform - bias, limited, limiting, conformity
  • It is great to ask for help. Speak about where it is needed, get the best possible minds to participate
  • Imperfection is beautiful and it saves a lot of time
  • Invest time in non-core learning activities. Keeps those knowledge teeth sharp
  • Don't worry about crafting your obituary - your three points for today are most powerful
  • Poetry, music, art travel, cultures, food - creative simplicities and complexities are most beautiful. Be open
